Nathan's Story
Nathan T. Vanderlaan's legal career began long before he was a licensed attorney. At just twelve years old, Attorney Vanderlaan began working for his mother's civil defense law firm in Chicago, Illinois. Attorney Vanderlaan knew his future would be forever intertwined with the practice of law, and continued working in the field of civil defense litigation through high school, college, and law school. By the time he graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Law in 2018, Attorney Vanderlaan had already developed nearly 13 years of legal experience before he was even licensed to practice.
The wealth of experience he developed from a young age proved invaluable as Attorney Vanderlaan began practicing as a licensed attorney. In 2018, after obtaining his license to practice law in the State of Illinois, Attorney Vanderlaan joined as an associate of Best, Vanderlaan & Harrington in Chicago, Illinois, where he began defending catastrophic personal injury claims throughout the Illinois State and Federal Courts. Eager to further expand his practice, in 2022, Attorney Vanderlaan obtained his license to practice law in the State of Florida. Attorney Vanderlaan was thereafter made partner, and was charged with expanding Best, Vanderlaan & Harrington's civil defense practice to the State of Florida under its subsidiary, Vanderlaan Law Group, P.A.
After relocating from Chicago to South-East Florida in the summer of 2022, Attorney Vanderlaan continued litigating catastrophic injury claims in both Florida and Illinois. Over the course of his career practicing for the defense, Attorney Vanderlaan successfully defended claims involving wrongful death, auto and trucking accidents, construction injuries, premises liability, dog bites, intentional torts, civil rights violations, and unlawful employment practices claims. Throughout his time on the defense, Attorney Vanderlaan successfully defended countless complex and catastrophic multi-million-dollar injury claims.
